Polycystic Ovaries

Polycystic ovaries is when follicles of the ovary develop in the normal manner but they do not rupture to release an egg. As a result of this, there are multiple follicles and cysts in the ovaries, hence the name ‘polycystic ovaries’. It should be noted that having polycystic ovaries does not automatically mean that you are suffering from Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). In fact, half or fewer of women that are diagnosed with polycystic ovaries will develop PCOS.
