Cardiovascular is the term that refers to the heart and blood vessels. It encompasses the circulatory system. When this system is working incorrectly, this is referred to cardiovascular disease. Some diseases include ischemic strokes, heart failure, heart attack, arrhythmias and heart valve problems. Many heart problems arise due a process known as arteriosclerosis, where plaque hardens the walls of the arteries. Treatments for cardiovascular disease include medication and surgery. Alternative treatments include stress management, oxygen therapy, traditional Chinese medicine, acupressure, acupuncture, chelating therapy, diet and nutrition therapy, herbal medicine, reflexology and yoga.
