Detoxification is a process that should be undertaken throughout the year but it can be difficult knowing how to do so. However, there are some detox products that can help. Read on to learn more.
While there are a myriad of detox products available on the market, it is imperative that you use them correctly, not only to get the best benefit from them, but to ensure that you are using them safely and not causing harm to your body. To this end, you should always read the instructions that accompany your detox product, and if you are unsure about anything, you should always seek further advice from an appropriate professional such as a naturopath.
Detox baths help the body to detoxify through an internal thermal reaction. You will literally sweat toxins out of your body. The principle of the detox bath is to use hot water to draw the toxins to the skin’s surface and, as the water cools, the water will pull the toxins from the skin. Epsom salts are commonly used to enhance the detoxification as they cause you to sweat. Other salts that you can use include sea salt, baking soda, clay, and Dead Sea salts. These are all highly alkaline and cleansing.
Detox patches are commonly applied to the foot. The acupuncture points that are found on the soles of the feet are the reflexive zones of the internal organs. Toxins in the body travel downwards during the day and accumulate in the reflexive zones. Detox patches are able to absorb the toxins through the acupuncture points on the feet. This frees blockages in the body’s circulatory and lymphatic system allowing the free flowing of blood and the easier elimination of toxins. The best time to use the patches is while you sleep. Remove the patches in the morning.
Detox foot spas aim to improve, among other things, kidney and liver function through an electromagnetic detoxification process carried out on the feet. The feet are placed into a spa bowl filled with warm, salted water. Electrodes or an energising cartridge will create a flow of electrons and a bio-energetic field. The foot spa rebalances and harmonises the body by sending signals through the lymph glands to stimulate the detox process.
Detox kits and supplements are perhaps the best known of the detox products. Detox kits are usually made up of dietary supplements, capsules, tablets or liquid, and a diet plan. The idea is that over a period of days or weeks, you take the supplements and follow the diet plan in order to purge your body of accumulated toxins, thus restoring your health. Ingredients may include herbs that can detoxify the liver and aid normal liver function, digestive aids, laxatives, and diuretics. All of these are natural products and not chemical at all. Detox kits generally have a cleansing phase followed by a restoring phase.
Detox supplements are also popular. These can support or even create detoxification. Blood cleansers include Echinacea, red clover, dandelion and burdock root. Laxatives, which are used to clean the gastrointestinal tract, include dandelion, senna leaf, licorice, and buckthorn. Diuretics include parsley, yarrow, cleavers, and horsetail. Skin cleansers and diaphoretics include burdock, goldenseal, peppermint, cayenne pepper and ginger root. Antibiotic herbs include garlic, myrrh, clove and eucalyptus. Anti-catarrhal herbs (mucus eliminating) include Echinacea, boneset, goldenseal, sage, and garlic.
