What Is Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy is a means of treating injury or physical impairment with therapeutic exercises, joint mobilisation, stretches, strapping, and electrophysical techniques. Physiotherapy is an integral component of our wellness services at Active Back Care.

What Do We Do?

One of our primary specialisations is treating back and neck pain. Whether the issue is caused by joint problems, a slipped disc, a pinched nerve, or another problem, pain in the back and neck can cause debilitating symptoms that extend throughout the entire body.

Our therapeutic treatments help to alleviate back and neck pain, improving range of motion, posture, and flexibility. Want to know if physiotherapy can help with your aches and pains? Then just give us a call or click on the 'Make an Enquiry' button to contact us instantly.

What To Expect During a Treatment

Our physiotherapy treatments aren’t confined to a pre-determined list. From cervicogenic headaches to ligament sprains, broken bones, and muscle strains, we treat all types of sports injuries and post-surgical conditions.

In addition to treating existing problems, our physiotherapists can also offer expert guidance on injury prevention, helping you maintain a fit and healthy body.

What Are The Benefits Of Having A Physiotherapy Session?

While massage focuses primarily on relieving muscular tension and stress, physiotherapy does this while also treating the body’s joints and skeletal components. When applied together, massage and physiotherapy are highly effective at reducing pain, increasing range of motion, and restoring normal bodily function.

Many of our physiotherapy clients have come to us after experiencing car accidents, sports-related injuries, or other traumas, although the practice can also help with chronic physical ailments.

Meet Our Practitioners

Michael Brierley

After years of working in the public hospital system, focusing primarily on rehabilitation and post-operative hip and knee surgeries, Michael joined the Active Back Care team with a specialty in musculoskeletal and sports physiotherapy. He has worked with many local soccer, AFL, netball, basketball, and gymnastic sports teams.

Michael earned his Bachelor of Applied Science in Physiotherapy from the University of Sydney. He has received extensive training in multiple forms of physiotherapy, including the Maitland, Mulligan, and McKenzie methods, as well as ENAR electrotherapy. As an accredited Work Cover, DVA, and CTP physiotherapist, he spent 12 months volunteering on the Thailand/Myanmar border, where he trained local physiotherapists in rehabilitation.

Michael’s diverse treatments involve a combination of ENAR electrotherapy, deep-tissue massage, mobilisations and manipulations, and evidence-based home exercise and stretching programs. He gets great satisfaction from helping people regain their strength, adopt healthy lifestyles, and return to their favorite activities. His success as a physiotherapist is his one on one, hands-on care of his individual patients.
