Art and You - Newtown's Creative Expressive Art Classes

Focus areas

Business Complementary medicine Creativity Transpersonal art therapy Tapping Boundaries

Group sessions are held on 2 Saturday mornings a month, at Newtown Neighbourhood Centre.

We ensure that you feel safe and free to explore yourself through expressive arts, such as drawing, water colour painting and collage.

Take pleasure in knowing that there are no boundaries, other than your own imagination. You will be provided with the chance to express yourself as you wish, without judgement, as this class creates a caring and safe space for all who come to grow, heal and learn about themselves.

There is no experience required for this class. If we see ourselves as artistic, it is an opportunity to let go of that and just draw from within, without putting pressure on ourselves of what something "should" look like and if we feel we are not artistic, it is an opportunity to see that we actually are creative, and can find our own way of doing things, in a creative way, that we can enjoy.

This class creates a great opportunity for artists who are feeling a little stuck or just wanting to tap deeper into themselves.

The class starts off with short lead meditation, becoming aware of your body sensations and tapping into your imagination, as you are lead on a journey, by Debra.

There is no commitment to come every week, being an opportunity to get creative when you feel for it. You are not required to bring anything,, as all materials are provided and the charge is between $20.00 and $25.00.

Debra also runs classes for various organisations. It is an opportunity for participants to express themselves, both in the artistic endeavour and in the sharing at the end of the group. Bringing a voice to the work can be a big part of the process, although some participants choose to just hold the experience. Either way, it is beneficial to share conversation, at the end of the class.
