Very simply yoga can be broken up into three areas, each complementing the other:
* Meditation is the spiritual essence of yoga. Through meditation we can start to bring into our lives greater understanding of who we are, our purpose for being here and where real happiness lies. Meditation provides insights into the workings of the mind and emotions. It further helps you develop clarity and wisdom, gaining a greater understanding of life. The art of meditation has been practiced by saints and sages to bring about the joyful state of self-realisation. In this consciousness a person is free from temporary worries, anxieties and concerns and is immersed in a higher spiritual happiness and inner peacefulness.
* Breathing techniques allow the body to relax and let go of tension, enhancing one’s ability to deal with stressful situations. These techniques deeply rejuvenate the whole body; you will feel fresh and enlivened. Because of the connection between the breath, the emotions and the mind (“just take a deep breath and relax”) your mind calms and becomes clearer and more focused.
* The yoga asanas tone the body and give it energy, vitality and endurance. In addition, they benefit the circulatory, respiratory, digestive and hormonal systems. Along with a healthy and nutritious diet all contribute to keeping the physical body functioning efficiently. The beautiful thing about yoga is that it’s not competitive. You work at your own pace, listening to your body, gradually encouraging it to stretch and strengthen when it’s ready.

Free Discover Meditation Courses
Several easy and practical meditation techniques are introduced in this two-part course. You will learn how to cope better with stress and improve your physical and mental well-being. Meditation provides insights into the workings of the mind and emotions. It further helps you develop clarity and wisdom, gaining a greater understanding of life.
Held monthly at Mermaid Beach and Nerang. Morning and night time courses available. Check our website for upcoming dates and times.
An Introduction to Yoga
Free yoga class, meditation, introduction to the benefits of a yoga lifestyle and refreshments. Yoga not only keeps you fit and firm, but provides innumerable benefits to the internal systems of the body. A little effort in yoga is repaid almost instantly with greatly increased feelings of well being. With regular practice, you will notice the balance yoga brings to your life. You will feel physically stronger, more flexible and mentally calmer.
When: Every Sunday 10:30 am – 12:30 pm at Burleigh Heads.

Mini Yoga Retreat
On the 3rd Sunday of most months we offer a Mini Yoga Retreat. Starting with the weekly free yoga session, we follow this with some kirtan (beautiful singing of mantras) and a talk on the spiritual essence of yoga. A simple lunch is provided and the retreat ends with a massage workshop. The program finishes about 3 pm and people are invited to stay for the 4 pm Sunday Spiritual Gathering.
When: Third Sunday of each month 10:30am – 3:00 pm
FREE – runs by donation. Bookings are essential.
Deep Peace Meditation
Experience the deeply relaxing and restorative effect of Yoga Relaxation and Mantra Meditation. These ancient yoga practices can help you overcome stress, anxieties, relieving tension and calming the mind. This is 45 minutes of bliss. It feels wonderful and is the perfect rest and recuperation after a hard day’s work. This class will transport you to a place of pure relaxation of mind, body and heart.

Sunday Spiritual Gatherings
Meditation for self-realisation. Beautiful chanting of sacred mantras, guided meditation, a fantastic vegetarian dinner and an inspiring talk that explores the spiritual essence of yoga.

Sacred Kirtan: A mellow spiritual gathering
Immerse yourself in a beautiful evening of heartfelt chanting and music interwoven with guided meditation, yoga breathing and spiritual insights from sacred yoga texts, followed by chai and sweets.
All voices are welcome. No need to book.
What to expect: You can sit on a cushion or a chair. Hand outs are provided so it is easy to follow along and join in when you feel comfortable. Wear whatever you will feel comfortable sitting in and something to keep you warm.
What to bring: Just your enthusiasm and participation! If you like you can bring a musical instrument and donations are always welcome.
When: Every Wednesday 6.45-8.00pm. Southport Community Centre (Room 3) Lawson St, Southport.
Mantra Rock Dance
A very special spiritual event. Let the music set you free and enjoy a fantastic vegetarian feast! All Free!

Stretch and Relax
This class features half an hour of gentle stretching followed by half an hour of relaxation and makes it very easy to relieve tension in the body and the mind. You will leave feeling alive and with a sense of peace and inner calm. Please bring two towels for your comfort.

Held at Mermaid Beach, Southport, Mudgeeraba and Nerang.
Easy yoga for people with stiff bodies, pregnancy, recuperating from illness and the elderly.
Hatha yoga classes increase flexibility, strengthens and tones muscles, balances hormones, cleanses and flushes all the internal systems of the body, calm the mind and reduce stress. Includes meditation and relaxation.
Energy Yoga combines strength, flexibility, focus and breathing. It will increase your aerobic fitness, invigorate your body and deepen your asanas. This challenging class is suitable for students familiar with alignment and muscle control.

One Day Balanced Life Retreats
