Osteopathy is a method of manual healthcare which recognises the crucial connection between the structure of the body and the way that it functions. Osteopaths concentrate on how the skeleton, muscles, joints, nerves, circulation, connective tissue and internal organs function as a holistic unit. Utilising skilled evaluation techniques, diagnosis, and a variety of hands-on methods, osteopaths may identify important types of dysfunction and imbalances in your body. Osteopathic treatment utilises a variety of treatment modalities and can include direct and indirect soft tissue, deep tissue inhibition, myofascial methods, manual stretching, massage, respiratory based methods, specific joint mobilisation and manipulation, craniosacral, counterstrain, and commonly includes some take-home advice and tools.

Your First Visit

Your initial consultation will involve a lot of active listening, vital to the taking of an extensive medical history and physical assessment. Usually, after an understanding is gained around your medical history, client-based needs and goals, an in-depth physical assessment is performed to reach a correct diagnosis and treatment is customised from a variety of modalities that exist within the osteopathic range.

Your first visit includes:

  • A 1-on-1 face-to-face 40-minute consultation.

  • Meaningful diagnosis and explanation, with no obfuscation, scaremongering or sales pitch.

  • The comprehensive examination of standard neurological and orthopaedic tests.

  • A realistic and affordable treatment plan

  • Hands-on treatment and sensible advice on that first visit.

  • Referral to appropriate health care professionals such as a GP, when needed.
