Adults Loss Anxiety Grief Stress Management Nervous system

I believe in the interrelatedness of mind and body and consequently my therapy work integrates psychodynamic, behavioural and biofeedback techniques.

I provide a comfortable environment for clients to talk about their concerns. Through listening carefully I aim to develop a clear understanding of their situation in order to tailor a therapy in a way that is respectful and valuing of each individual. I offer a comprehensive suite of progressive therapeutic strategies, grounded in a sensitive, supportive and pragmatic approach that is shaped by the individual needs of each client

I commonly work with adults who are facing the following issues: difficulty in regulating overwhelming feelings, anxiety, depression, trauma, post traumatic stress, grief and loss, relationship concerns, implementing personal goals, managing career and work related issues, difficulty in adjusting to a new environments (e.g. country/work/family), and general distress.

I provide both long and short-term therapy.

Ultimately I am committed to using therapeutic processes that allow people to address the core of their issues and maximize their potential in life.

This is my second career having spent about 18 years in the corporate sector.

I am a long-time practitioner of yoga. I use art as a form of self-expression and have exhibited my work.

Therapy
I practice psychodynamic psychotherapy and draw on behavioural therapy and biofeedback techniques according to the needs of the individual.

Psychodynamic psychotherapy is a method of verbal communication which seeks to help a person find ways to manage problems of living and relief from emotional pain.

Psychotherapy provides an empathic, safe therapeutic relationship in which an individual can experience and explore habitual patterns of feeling, thinking and behaving so that they can find insight and develop. Psychotherapy supports individuals to use their insights about old patterns to create new meaning and new action in ways that can enhance their lives.

People seek therapy because they have not been able to develop a stable resolution for their difficulties on their own or with the help of friends and family members.

Heart Rate Variability Biofeedback

Where appropriate I integrate Heart Rate Variability (HRV) biofeedback, an evidence-based treatment modality, into the sessions. Heart Rate Variability biofeedback involves training clients to adjust their breathing rate according to their heart beat patterns so that their nervous system is better regulated. Along with building the capacity to self-regulate this assists with mind/body integration. In building a self-regulatory capacity, biofeedback is regarded as beneficial in assisting clients to manage their trauma, reduce their stress and increase their focus.

Heart Rate Variability is evidence-based medicine.

Introductory neurocognitive functioning assessment

When applicable I utilize contemporary on-line brain-based models to assess emotional and cognitive functioning.
