About Emily

Emily is a well trained, caring and holistic Osteopath working from Bodhi Wellness in Caulfield North & Osteopathy on Canterbury in Canterbury VIC, and is ready to help you with your pain, injuries and ailments.

Emily is originally from a small country town in the South West of Victoria but loves her busy lifestyle that she now has in Melbourne. Growing up she played most sports, with a keen interest in netball. Sporting injuries were fairly common practice so her interest in Osteopathy and the health fields stemmed from there.

Emily spent many a morning before school in the local hospital as her parents are both nurses, watching the busy nurses and doctors caring for a wide range of people – which she is sure also spiked her interest in the medical and health fields.

Family is a big part of Emily’s life, coming from a large and very close extended family. She enjoys catching up with her family whenever she can, as well as spending time with her friends, travelling, shopping and baking for others – so she doesn’t eat all the sweets herself!

Emily has a special interest in treating the following conditions:

  • Headaches and migraines

  • Pregnancy related pelvis and/or low back pain

  • Acute neck and/or back pain

  • Sporting injuries

What training do Osteopath’s have?

Australian Osteopaths undergo a minimum of 5 years university training in anatomy, pathology, human physiology, medical diagnosis, research and osteopathic technique.

Emily has completed a undergraduate Bachelor degree in Clinical Sciences (Osteopathy) and a postgraduate Master degree in Health Sciences (Osteopathy) through Victoria University. She has also completed the first two years of a Health Science degree majoring in Exercise Science and Nutrition before starting her Osteopathy studies.

Emily is eager to continue her professional development and has completed further study in:

  • Dry Needling and cupping

  • Balanced Ligamentous Tension (A gentler and indirect form of treatment targeting soft tissues and the fascial system)

What happens in my first Osteopathy consult?

  • They will ask you in detail about your past medical history, including medications you may be taking and your family history

  • Your osteopath will explain your condition to you and inform you if it is safe for them to treat you or whether you need to be referred to another health professional or for imaging

  • An osteopathic examination will be performed including active and passive movements, orthopedic testing, postural assessment and/or neurological tests

  • Treatment will begin and include techniques such as; soft tissue massage, stretching, joint articulation and/or manipulation and muscle energy technique

  • It’s important to remember to wear loose and comfortable clothing and appropriate underwear as Osteopath’s take a holistic and whole body approach to their treatment
