Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture

Elisabeth is a registered Chinese Medicine practitioner, having graduated with Honours in both Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine. She completed her internship at Shuguang hospital in Shanghai, China, in several departments including Internal Medicine, Acupuncture and Gynecology, observing how Eastern and Western Medicine could be successively integrated for the benefit of patients.

Prior to studying Chinese Medicine Elisabeth qualified as a Reiki practitioner and worked as a therapist utilising Shiatsu techniques and Swedish massage, which she incorporates into her current practice. She has volunteered her time as an Acupuncturist in community acupuncture programs and holistic drug withdrawal units. She has also previously volunteered as a mentor in the AACMA mentorship program for new graduates.

As a practitioner of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine Elisabeth sees a wide range of health concerns. Her treatments include a thorough health history and Traditional Chinese Medicine modalities including Acupuncture, Cupping, Gua Sha, Moxibustion and prescription of Chinese Herbal Medicine where required.

Elisabeth has a special interest in getting to the underlying factors that can contribute to illness and in educating patients on self care techniques to help manage their own health. These include dietary therapy and lifestyle adjustments.

Elisabeth finds that whilst Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese medicine is a system of healing that has been practised for thousands of years, it is remains very relevant and integrates very successfully into modern health care.
