Every treatment with Lisa begins with a thorough and in-depth health consultation, where you will provide information on your health history, current symptoms and complaints, and lifestyle influences. Lisa uses Traditional Chinese Medicine techniques such as taking your pulse and looking at your tongue as part of the consultation, to ascertain and prescribe an individual treatment plan.

herbsStress, overwork, poor diet, weather and environmental conditions, or other lifestyle factors may impact health and quality of life. This will become evident through observable signs of bodily disharmony.

Lisa looks carefully for these signs of health imbalance, paying particular attention not only to the presenting signs and symptoms, but also to medical history and general constitution. Lisa then uses one or a combination of Traditional Chinese Medicine modalities; Acupuncture, Chinese Herbs, Dietary Therapy, Cupping and Moxibustion.

Acupuncture is one of the oldest, most long-standing and popular health care systems offered by Traditional Chinese Medicine. Fine, sterile needles are inserted in the skin at specific points along energy meridians, a network of invisible channels through the body, to clear energy blockages and encourage the normal flow of Qi through the body.

acupunctureAcupuncture takes a holistic approach to understanding normal function and disease processes, and focuses as much on the prevention of illness as on the treatment.

Chinese Herbs
Lisa will prescribe a Chinese Herbal formula that specifically matches individual health problems. As each condition changes, the formula is also adjusted and modified until the desired health outcome is achieved. Fremantle Acupuncture uses Chinese Herbal Medicines that are dispensed in granulated powders, capsules or pill form, and have been produced to Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration standards.

Processed with VSCOcam with c1 presetChinese Herbal Medicines are mostly of plant origin though some animal and mineral substances may also be used. Some are commonly found in your kitchen, such as ginger, cardamom and cinnamon, while others such as chrysanthemum and mint may be found in the garden.

Fremantle Acupuncture does not dispense medicines derived from illegally acquired wildlife flora and fauna, as well as remedies derived from endangered species.

Dietary Therapy
To support your treatment, Lisa will provide advice regarding small, realistic changes to your diet. These will either be for tonification or sedation purposes, to eliminate stagnation or to promote the movement of Qi. Dietary Therapy can be extremely effective to help conditions in the body there is an excess or deficiency of a particular pathogen such as heat, cold, dampness, dryness or wind.

Lisa provides advice for common ailments based on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Her easy to understand and apply, common sense dietary advice, is centred on concepts such as eating in moderation, including specific foods reduce an excess of a particular pathogen, to increase vitality and to eliminate foods that are impacting on health.

Cupping is the term applied to the Traditional Chinese Medicine technique that uses varying sized glass cups as suction devices that are placed on the skin for therapeutic purposes.
The functions of cupping are improving circulation, clearing toxins, strengthening the body, balancing the internal organs.

cuppingbackLisa may apply cups to the body directly over pressure points, where there is pain, or along energy channels or meridians. This is generally done on fleshy areas of the body and most commonly on the back. Cupping removes stagnation in the body and opens the meridians so that Qi can flow freely, or rejuvenates certain meridians and organs that are not functioning at their best.
