Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine in which a therapist puts special cups on your skin for a few minutes to create suction. People get it for many purposes, including to help with pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation and well-being, and as a type of deep-tissue massage.

Cupping

The process of cupping involves placing heated glass cups along the meridian pathways of the body or along any tight/tense muscles. The skin is gently sucked upwards which allows the toxins to be released and the restrictions/blockages to be cleared. The cups are usually left on the skin for around 10 minutes depending on the area or issue that is being treated.

Cupping works similar to acupuncture moving the lymphatic system to increase blood flow, loosen tight muscles, and relax the qi. Cupping is a great deep tissue treatment which brings the client to experience a deep sense of calm and relaxation.

Highly effective for:

  • Relieving back and neck pain

  • Migraines

  • Respiratory conditions e.g. asthma and colds

  • High blood pressure

  • Anxiety

  • Cellulite can also be treated by applying oil to the skin and moving the cups around the affected area

Myofascial Cupping

Myofascial cupping is different from regular cupping. The process works with the fascia. An advanced massage method which is beneficial for chronic issues when massage results do not last.

The suction of the cups gliding over the affected area, lift the tissue and passively releases the fascial layers. Pain subsides, flexibility improves, and increased range of movement occurs. An increase of fluid movements and blood supply occurs in the painful area.

Highly effective for:

  • Scars and adhesions

  • Fibromyalgia

  • Lower back pain

  • Myofascial pain syndrome

  • Sciatica

  • Cellulite can also be treated
