Acupuncture

Acupuncture is the most popularly known branch of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), and has been practiced in China for over 2000 years.

Acupuncture is not only safe, but effective and enjoyable when administered by qualified physicians trained specifically in acupuncture and recognised by a professional association (such as AACMA or ATMS).

At Acupuncture Newcastle, acupuncture is practiced in a safe, comfortable and friendly environment. There are no side effects to treatment and the needles used in our clinic are extremely fine, sterile and single-use which are disposed of immediately after each treatment.

Acupuncture can help with:

  • Emotional wellbeing and reducing stress
  • Digestive and bowel health
  • Sleep problems
  • Skin problems and sweating disorders
  • Reducing pain
  • Sexual Health and Fertility (male and female)
  • Immune system and low energy

Chinese Herbs

As with acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine (CHM) makes up a significant part of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Acupuncture Newcastle gives you access to both traditional raw and/or granulated herbs. For those who wish to fully embrace traditional ways, the raw herbs can be decocted into a tea or 'soup'. These days, granulated herbs provide a high potency and time saving alternative that is still able to be modified by your physician to suit your individual needs. The granules have a cornstarch base (gluten-free), are vegan/vegetarian friendly, and are readily absorbed by your body. All herbs used are Australian TGA approved and LifeSource does not support the use of any endangered plant or animal species.

Detoxification

Acupuncture Newcastle offers you a personalised plan for an effective detox whatever your requirements are. You can have a one off consultation to help plan your own detox, or you may feel that our four week kick-start plan is just what you need. In your detox sessions we will help you come up with a detox plan by revisiting your diet, recommending sensible, good quality supplements, apply specific acupuncture treatments and develop an integrated day plan based on the natural cycles of you body clock.

Detox can help with:

  • Low energy
  • Sluggish digestion and bowels (or IBS)
  • Skin and respiratory problems
  • Poor concentration and
  • Stress and low immunity
  • Parasites or yeast infections (Candida/thrush)
  • Bad breath or body odours
  • Weight management and metabolic disorders

Other Therapies

Cupping

This is a therapy that has been used amongst several traditional cultures of the world including Egypt, Greece and China.
By creating a vacuum within the 'cups' (made from smooth high quality glass) a suction effect is achieved when they are placed on the body. Traditionally, this was done using a flame but in the modern clinic there are simpler and safe tools for us to replicate the same process.
This therapy is fantastic for the treatment of tight and stiff muscles, joint pain, respiratory disorders involving excess mucus and congestion, and for improved lymphatic flow.

Moxabustion

This therapy is unique to Oriental medicine and is often used together with acupuncture. It involves the burning of healing herbs to points along the meridians in order to supply 'yang' or warm energy to the body when appropriate.
Modern research has indicated that some of the therapeutic effects of Moxibustion are partly due to the infra-red light spectrum that is emitted during the process. Simultaneously, the heat that is experienced not only feels pleasant but has been shown to initiate a response from the immune system and "heat-shock" proteins.
Moxa is useful for conditions such as aches and pains that are worse in cold weather, period pain, fatigue, lower back pain, increasing sexual function, fertility and improving IBS and digestion.
