About the Sessions
Marlies takes great care to facilitate a relaxed and secure environment in which you can feel safe and trustworthy to discuss and process private topics. Part of the initial session is a comprehensive assessment which involves getting to know you, discussing your desired outcome and formulating goals and a treatment plan in collaboration with you. Marlies takes a holistic, broad approach when working with clients. Part of the treatment plan may consist of identifying small and manageable changes in your life that have the potential to increase wellness and to support the progress of matters you are dealing with. Marlies will encourage you to engage in a process of self-discovery to gain self-mastery skills and increased resilience to life's challenges.
Sessions will involve a mixture of strategies depending on the issues you are facing. Session times are 1 hour for counselling sessions and up to 1.5 hours for psychotherapy and ISIS sessions. The initial interview may take longer.
In some situations a home visit may be of benefit and can be negotiated.
Internet video consultations via skype are available as well. Experience has shown that this medium has a great potential for a quality interpersonal space to develop and that despite of the physical distance an atmosphere of emotional holding and support can be passed through the ether. However, internet consultations are unfortunately not refundable through Medicare.
Courses and Workshops
Marlies also works with groups and runs courses and 1-day-workshops on a variety of subjects like stress management, relaxation, meditation or bereavement support. Courses will span for a block of 12 weeks each and participants are restricted to a maximum of 10. Care is given to craft a balance between information input, activities and participant contributions and to foster an atmosphere in which participants feel at ease. You may want to discuss with your GP whether he would feel that you could benefit attending and therefore would write you a referral. In this case you could claim a Medicare rebate towards the fees. Fees of workshops and courses vary and information about up coming events can be found on www.marlieszoll.com.au

If you have a Mental Health Care referral from your GP you can claim a rebate of $83.25 for up to 10, in exceptional circumstances 16 sessions within a calendar year. There are also a number of special bulk-bulling referral programs - LINKS referrals for the Penrith area and ATAPS referrals for the Blue Mountains area – for vulnerable people with mental health issues including anxiety, depression and stress related problems; women with prenatal or perinatal depression; children and adolescent; and people at risk of suicide. When you book your appointment with your GP you need to tell the receptionist to make a long appointment for a Mental Health Care Plan to ensure your GP has enough time to set up the plan.
If you have ancillary benefits for psychology with your health fund you are able to claim your consultations. Rebates vary and you will need to ring your health fund to enquire about the amount they will refund for a session.
