Midwifery

Naturaliste Midwifery concentrates on offering continuity of care for pregnant women, which thus is able to develop a relationship of respect, trust and a feeling of security throughout the birth process.

Working closely alongside other midwives as a primary caregiver should allow you to feel secure and confident to give birth with professionals who are primarily concerned with the health of you and your baby.

I strongly believe that childbirth is an amazingly happy, normal and healthy event in the family life cycle.

My primary role is to guide you in either a water birth, home birth or a hospital setting and I am assisted by other midwives and obsterically trained medical officers through the entire pregnancy and birth should any issues arise.

Antenatal Period

My job through the antenatal period is to help remove and listen to your concerns so when it comes to meeting your child for the first time, you and your partner have been properly prepared and directed for the changing role from couple to family.

The role of a midwife is to assist, support and guide you throughout your pregnancy from the early weeks, key points throughout the pregnancy and assisting in the preparation of your body, mind and spirit for the arrival of your baby.

Birth

I will be your main midwife throughout the labour and birth of your child. Throughout the birth of your baby, I strive to provide you the knowledge and the autonomy to make informed decisions throughout the birthing procedure that will help your experience and provide you with a sense of control over the entire process.

Postnatal Period

Following the arrival of your baby, I continue to care for you for around 6 weeks in your home. I am able to help you with breastfeeding, infant care, care of the mother and helping in transitioning your family to adjust to the new arrival.
