About Us

Naturopathic Health was started by Debra Wallis and Paul Kern in 1998. Both have been qualified Naturopaths since 1993.

Debra and Paul have over 45 years combined clinical experience as practitioners, and have helped many people over the years suffering from digestion problems, recurrent colds, flu’s and illnesses; stress; hormonal and female issues.  Paul has been assisting people with cancer, writing well researched complementary cancer protocols. This allows patients to get the most out of their medical treatments, by using specifically chosen natural supplements in combination with radio or chemotherapy.

Located on King William Rd, on the corner of Mc Gowan Ave, behind Yots Hairdresser. We have our clinic room in the Human health chiropractic centre, with parking at the rear of the premises.

With a broad range of experience they have helped people with issues such as:

  • Stubborn weight gain

  • Mild anxiety and depression

  • Digestive problems - such as Reflux, Excessive wind, Dysbiosis and Irritable Bowel syndrome

  • Sleep - trouble getting to sleep and those that can't stay asleep

  • Feeling stressed and overhwhelmed

  • Recurrent infections, colds and flu, glandular fever

  • General viruses that wont go away

  • Hayfever and mild seasonal allergies.

  • Lack of energy, and those with chronic tiredness

  • Inflammatory conditions such as Arthritis

  • Symptoms of pH imbalances such as aches, pains, problems losing weight, osteoporosis and even poor muscle growth.

  • Cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy and radiotherapy - with personalised plans allowing them to get the most out of their medical treatment, while maintaining their health.

Naturopathic Medicine

Naturopathy is a system of medicine that works by stimulating the body’s own innate healing mechanisms. Naturopathy stimulates the body’s natural defences and seeks to remove any noxious influence that is preventing it from functioning properly and effectively. Generally Naturopathy will involve changes in diet, exercise and lifestyle plus use of other natural remedies including herbal and homeopathic medicines and vitamin and mineral supplements.

A Naturopath will provide you with information, advice and a natural approach to regain and maintain your health, beat stress and improve your energy levels. Our Naturopaths are often working with clients already on prescribed medications and are experienced in working in conjunction with patients and their doctors to get best possible health outcomes.

Herbal Medicine

Herbal medicine has been used by humans for 1000’s of years, as the primary form of medicine by most cultures for a very long time. In todays westernised societies pharmaceutical drugs have become the medicine of choice for many people.

Herbal medicine has always sought to bring people back to health with non-toxic, plant based medicines. These traditionally were teas, or decoctions. Although over the past few hundred years herbal tinctures were made, so a more concentrated liquid form could be used. Of course in the past 50 years herbal tablets and capsules have also become available. The advantage of liquid herbal medicines is that a formulation can contain several herbs so they can be used to treat more than one issue. For example a single herbal formula may be able to address digestive problems, skin problems AND hormonal imbalances.

Our practitioners have had many years experience with making personalised herbal formulations for all types of complaints.

Urine & Saliva Analysis

This is a comprehensive analysis of urine and saliva.  Samples are tested for dissolved particle content, pH, and oxidative stress.  When this information is compared to normal ranges, a report upto 18 pages long, regarding your health and areas of stress in the body is generated.  This gives a deeper understanding of any underlying conditions, or imbalances that may be contributing to the symptoms from which you are suffering.

In House Testing

(a) Female Hormone Test measures a number of hormones, that play many roles in the human body.

  1. Estrogens
    - Relieves menopausal symptoms, protect against osteoporosis, heart disease, Alzheimer's disease, colon cancer, incontinence and tooth loss.
    - Enhances mental acuity and memory.
    - Increases serotonin and endorphin levels. (These are both “feel good” hormones)

  2. Progesterone
    - Decreases risk of endometrial cancer, enhances mood and has a calming effect.
    - Involved in the reduction of PMS and menopausal hot flushes.
    - Regulates fluid balance.

  3. Testosterone
    - Builds muscle and promotes muscle tone, increases libido, helps strengthen bones.

(b) The Male Hormone Test  measures both DHEA (the hormone of “youth”) and Testosterone.

(c) The Sleep Disorder Test measures Melatonin levels in the body. Melatonin is the pineal hormone responsible for regulating sleep and waking cycles and is also reported to have powerful antioxidant properties.

(d) The Stress Hormone Self Test Kit measures cortisol and DHEA levels in the body. The adrenal gland produces Cortisol the hormone that helps in responding and coping with stress, trauma, infections and environmental extremes. Cortisol also increases energy and metabolism, helps to regulate blood pressure and decreases inflamation.

Vascular Response Graph Analysis

The vascular response graph shows how the body is reacting to many things, both internal and external.  There can be indications of potential  inflammation or allergies; as well as signs that may indicate poor digestion or the body dealing with viruses or fungii.  While the vascular response graph doesn't diagnose any of these conditions, it gives information that allows the practitioner to see how the body is being affected by its environment, so other tests can be arranged if needed.
