The practice of inserting thin needles into the body at specific points to relieve pain, or treat a disease. Acupuncture has its origin in traditional Chinese medicine and has been in use for more than 2,000 years.
Chinese Herbal Medicine
Chinese herbal medicines are mainly plant based medicine, but some preparations include minerals or animal products. Chinese herbs are prescribed to normalise imbalanced energy, or Qi, that runs through invisible meridians in the body.
In the Chinese tradition, a meal isn't just an accumulation of calories but an opportunity to supply our Organs with the balanced tastes and energies needed for health. When the body is out of balance, food is one way to make up for deficiency and drain excess from the system. We can provide the correct nutritional advice to restore the balance and make you healthy.
Moxibustion is a method of heating specific acupuncture points on the body by burning moxa made from dried mugwort close to the skin. This technique can be used alone or in combination with acupuncture.
A therapy in which heated glass cups are applied to the skin along the meridians of the body, creating suction to stimulate the flow of energy.
Gua Sha (spooning)
Chinese medical treatment in which the skin is scraped to produce light bruising. Gua sha releases unhealthy elements from injured areas and stimulates blood flow and healing.
Shoulder, neck and back pain, headaches, migraines, menstrual pain, joint pain and nerve pain can all be treated with Chinese Medicine. Whenever the free flow of Qi and Blood is obstructed pain can develop. Acupuncture unblocks the channels and reduces the level of pain. It can also improve your ability to deal with pain, and can regulate the negative emotions associated with pain, such as fear, anxiety and frustration.
