About Calmbirth

With Knowledge Comes Confidence

Calmbirth® is a highly acclaimed childbirth education program designed to empower and prepare couples mentally, emotionally and physically for the birth of their baby. The program runs over two-days (consecutive Saturdays) and assists couples to replace the fear, stress and anxiety about giving birth with the knowledge and skills to birth their baby calmly, safely and confidently.

Calmbirth® classes are suitable for first time or subsequent births and couples can use their learned Calmbirth knowledge and skills regardless of how their labour and birth presents itself - be it a natural birth or caesarean.

Though not a strict guideline, the ideal time to attend a Calmbirth class is between 24 and 34 weeks gestation as it gives couples enough time to reflect on and practice what they will learn in the Calmbirth class, using the tools and techniques to help prepare for birth.

The classes are for all women regardless of their model of care - be it private, public, birth centre or home birth.

Your Calmbirth Educator

My name is Kim. I’m a registered midwife & registered nurse with a combined 13 years of experience. I'm also the mother of two beautiful young boys.

I have always been passionate about childbirth education and truly believe the Calmbirth program is the best of the best. It is built on a solid scientific foundation, drawing on research from neuroscience, midwifery, obstetrics and epigenetics to give couples the best preparation for the arrival of their baby.

Unfortunately our modern culture falls (very) short here, when it has become the norm to instil mothers-to-be with fear and doubt via the sharing of birthing ‘horror stories’ and a perception of childbirth as an ‘emergency waiting to happen’. Pregnancy, labour and birth really are incredible life experiences and bringing a baby into the world can (and should) be empowering & positive - whether it’s a natural birth or caesarean.

On a personal level, I’ve also been ‘on the other side’ myself. The births of both of my sons (in 2014 and 2016) were incredibly positive experiences, and I credit that to the skills and confidence gained by attending a Calmbirth class during my first pregnancy. It was invaluable for both myself and my husband.

I look forward to sharing this brilliant program with you.
