I am a fully qualified Naturopath and Remedial Massage Therapist, and have been involved in the natural therapy industry for more than 9 years.
Why natural therapies?
At a very young age, my daughter was diagnosed with two auto immune conditions: Alopecia areata (an auto immune condition that attacks the hair follicle causing patchy hair loss) and Hashimoto's disease (an auto immune condition that attacks the thyroid gland). At the time, I was working within the pharmaceutical industry, and therefore the treatment pathway for my daughter started with Western medicine. The treatment prescribed for the alopecia was strong cortisone cream, which was applied directly onto my daughter’s scalp, and overtime began to stimulate normal hair growth. However, on cessation of the cortisone, her hair began to fall away again.
This, along with the age of my daughter, stirred my curiosity and investigation into the side effects of this cream and consequently, led me down the path of natural medicine. It was here, through large volumes of research that a variety of natural therapies were used to treat the underlying cause. Her auto immune conditions were brought under control, and as a result of these first hand experiences, sparked my desire to study. Consequently, this initiated my change from the pharmaceutical industry in to natural medicine. I constantly research and continue my education, to keep up to date and well informed of new developments in the industry. Now, over the years, I have the knowledge and experience in treating a wide range of health conditions naturally but have a particular interest in the thyroid, and auto immune conditions.
Remedial massage therapies
I have a keen interest in health and fitness. I am particularly interested in anatomy and physiology and realise how well massage and sport go hand in hand. I became a massage therapist in 2011 and have since worked in both a clinical environment, and as a mobile therapist. I have treated many different sports ailments in clients such as triathletes, cyclists and body builders, as well as a multitude of upper body dysfunction due to office working environments. I am certified in pregnancy massage, and having been pregnant myself, know just how beneficial massage can be for you and your baby. I have participated in volunteer work through the Hampstead Centre for people suffering with paraplegia and quadriplegia, the Migrant Centre for immigrants, and the City to Bay fun run in Adelaide.
