About Dominique
Dominique has been studying and practicing yoga for over 20 years, teaching for 12 years. She has explored many facets in the field of yoga and after studying with Geeta Iyengar in India, gained Iyengar certification in 2000. She discovered Anusara yoga in 2005 which transformed her approach to both practice and teaching. Anusara means, to flow with life, to be open to grace and to let it guide you. The principals of alignment which are the backbone of this method allow you to understand and experience within your own body how to support yourself with ease and strength as you go into each posture in a way that allows you to push your own boundaries at your own pace. This way of practicing brings you back to yourself and at the same time encourages you to stay connected to everything else. It has taught her how be in life in a way which is more real, has brought her an inner peace and an ability to be present easily, that she profoundly enjoys sharing with others. Her desire is to help people connect to the deeper part of themselves, their essential nature.
She offers you the support of her experience to let your individual grace express itself. Her style is casual, down to earth with an endearing sense of humour that has everybody feeling comfortable.
About Anusara Yoga
Anusara, literally means flowing with grace and is a form of Hatha Yoga which encourages going with the flow or following your heart. It blends universal principles of alignment with a joyful, heart oriented, respectful approach to practice. The first principle, " opening to grace", inspires a connection with something bigger than us. Our relationship to the totality of creation or the divine helps us to explore the intangible element of beauty as it is expressed within us and around us. Practically, we focus our attention not only on the form of the body in a pose but our relationship to our actions and responses as we move in and out of the pose. Anusara is a practical way of aligning our body and mind with a pure expression of the heart. In the words of John Friend it is "accepting the world and ourselves as we are and then responding with love". Anusara Yoga aims to develop community as well as having a strong emphasis on creative freedom and individuality without rigid dogma.
