Glomerulonephritis

Glomerulonephritis is the inflammation of the glomeruli, the tiny filtering units in the kidneys. The glomeruli slowly lose their ability to remove waste and excess water from the blood to make urine. Glomerulonephritis may be acute or chronic. Depending on whether it is acute or chronic, symptoms include fatigue, high blood pressure, swelling of the hands, feet, face, and ankles, blood and protein in the urine, nausea, vomiting, muscle pain, excessive urination, fever, pain, loss of appetite, general oedema, reduced urine, and headache. Treatment options include drug therapies, diet modifications, dialysis, kidney transplantation, and controlling the symptoms. In conjunction with conventional medicine treatment, herbal therapies and homoeopathy may also be used.
