Ringworm is not a form of worms at all but is actually a fungal skin infection. As well as the skin, it may also affect the nails and scalp. Symptoms of ringworm include reddened, scaly patches that form an irregular ring shape with a slightly raised edge, itching, and thickened, discoloured nails. Treatment includes antifungal medication (either tablets or creams), homoeopathy, and herbal remedies.
