Sciatica is the irritation of the sciatic nerve which passes through the pelvis. It commonly causes pain or a tingling feeling running down the inside of the leg and can even cause numbness. Conventional treatments for sciatica include anti-inflammatory medication, heat/ice therapy and surgery in severe cases. Alternative treatments include acupuncture, massage, chiropractic, osteopathy and physical therapy.
