Scleroderma is a disorder of the skin and connective tissue that is characterized by the hardening and thickening of the skin. Symptoms of this disorder include loss of hair in the affected area, hardening and thickening of skin, shiny skin, a change in skin colour, difficulty making a fist, hardening of the toes and hands, muscle weakness, and poor blood flow to the extremities. Scleroderma can be treated through medication, exercise, stress management therapies, biofeedback, yoga, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and acupuncture.
