Breathing space is the only eco-friendly, community yoga studio on the Northern Beaches, where the area’s finest yoga practitioners, natural and artistic therapists, choose to gather. We are the longest serving yoga studio in Avalon & are renowned for our excellent teachers, all of whom have extensive teaching & practice experience, accreditation with the appropriate yoga associations plus full insurance.

We aim to promote holistic & seasonal alignment through the practice of asana (postures), pranayama (breathing techniques), meditation, mantra (yogic affirmations), kirtan (devotional chanting), food medicine & yoga philosophies. You will be inspired by our senior teachers, all of whom share a natural affinity with the yogic path & a deep calling to share it with others.

We use and promote organic, sustainable yoga products to raise awareness as we believe healing the planet is synonymous with healing ourselves. The studio is energetically cleansed on a regular basis & adopts the principles of Feng Shui. We are fully equipped with thick, premium biodegradable yoga mats; organic cotton bolsters & scented eye bags; organic cotton blankets & warmer organic wool ones; thick’n’soft yoga straps plus organic cork blocks. All our products are low allergen & eco-friendly. The room is large (can accommodate up to 30 students comfortably/40 for workshops) and is bright and airy, recently fitted out with beautiful new windows and soft organic hemp curtains. Centrally located (see map) we are the only venue with the unique feature of a large roller door that invites the sunshine & fresh air in…. absolutely awesome in spring & summer! This feature alone sets us apart from other studios & because we are the largest studio on the northern beaches, you will be able to stretch out, create your own ‘space’ & practice without feeling over crowded. We have a separate therapy room & toilet for your convenience plus there is ample street parking and several healthy cafes nearby that make a delicious post-yoga chai tea!

You will find a wide variety of yoga styles, natural therapies and esoteric practices as well as seasonal cleansing ‘detox’ & attunement programmes; guest master teachers; yoga & kirtan workshops; international yoga & shamanic healing retreats; shamanic body work sessions; Theta Healing; Full Moon medicine circles; specialist prenatal, postnatal & mums’n’bubs yoga classes plus local & global charity initiatives such as Sea Shepherd Australia, Living Ocean and Living Ocean Yoga. All of our teachers are also available for private yoga, diet & lifestyle consults.

* We are a dog-friendly studio… you are more than welcome to bring your pupalup to class – we have a water dish, comfy sponge bed & chewy treats to keep them happy whilst you practice.

Shamanic Birth & Sacred Yoga

Pre natal helps prepare you physically, hormonally and emotionally for pregnancy and child birth.



Mana Yoga

Mana Yoga is an innovative system of corrective yoga, holistic therapies and energy work that is accessible to every body. It is very different, very effective and unlike any other style of yoga you may have tried previously. It is also very addictive!



Hatha Yoga

Imagine your body stronger, lighter, more open and flexible. Imagine breathing more freely and moving effortlessly. Picture yourself with increased energy and mental clarity.



Restorative Yoga

This class combines traditional Hatha restorative postures with the seasonal and spiritual focuses indicative of Mana Yoga.



Swiss Ball/Stretch & Relax

“Swiss Ball” improves your overall physical strength, balance, muscle tone, posture and flexibility, as well as being an effective way to rehabilitate after injury.

“Stretch” is a unique blend of hand-picked stretches and postures aimed to deeply relax body and mind. Tension accumulated over many years can gradually be released, allowing you to feel better. The stretching sequences will improve your strength, flexibility, balance, posture and agility.



Shamanic healing sessions with Denby

These healing sessions are a subtle compliment to my Full Moon medicine circles each month.

Who these sessions are for: Anybody and everybody, especially those who have ‘tried everything else and nothing works’. Working on this deep energetic level, with shamanic tools and intentions, is quite often just what you need to create embodied healing.
