    It all started 1989, when at a ’sea-change’ moment in my life, a strong intuitive feeling led me to enrol in my first massage course with Traditional Chinese Therapeutic Acupressure and Meridian Massage, (TCMM).

     

    This course blended the TCM theories of the meridians, five elements and yin/yang with basic anatomy and emphasised a holistic approach to the body.  It also included the use of cupping and gua sha practices and I quickly developed a successful practice and continued for several years solely with this modality.

     

    In 1995, after experiencing the wonderfully rejuvenating effects of Traditional Thai Therapeutic Massage, (TTTM), at a Thai Medical College in Bangkok, I completed a Certificate and followed this with a Diploma of Traditional Thai Therapeutic Massage, in Thailand and Australia respectively.

    Basing my treatments on the eastern techniques of TCMM and TTTM, I was able to give my clients a thoroughly therapeutic and at times remedial experience.

     

    In 2008, at a one-day seminar on Manual Lymphatic Drainage, (MLD), I experienced the almost immediately soothing effect from having this technique demonstrated on me, and this happened to be a side effect to the main purpose of stimulating flow of lymph fluid. This opened a new dimension of tuning into the various tissue structures the just below the skin surface, before even approaching the musculoskeletal zone, and soon after I completed first two levels Dr. Vodder Manual Lymphatic Drainage.

     

    From this my interest in finding out more about massage and other related bodywork techniques from the Western approach was peaked and working around family commitments and a part time practice, I eventually completed a Diploma of Remedial Massage.

     

    During this time, I also completed the last two levels of Dr. Vodder MLD, a specialised postgraduate level course, relating specifically to the treatment of lymphoedema.

     

    Completing the Advanced Diploma of Myotherapy (or Advanced Remedial Massage) in 2019, was a natural progression, especially from the Remedial Diploma and has given more depth to my remedial treatments.

     

    I always feel in my element when working with my hands and passionate about using these modalities to help people feel better in their bodies. Added to that, the privilege of spending time with clients 1-to-1 is an enjoyable and enriching experience for me. So, all in all, my profession as a bodyworker is one of the most fulfilling parts of my life.
