Scalp Conditions, Treatment & Advice

We include scalp care and recommendations for a host of acute and permanent skin diseases, such as psoriasis, dermatitis, pruritus and eczema, tinea capita (circle worm), etc.

Psoriasis

Silver white patches on inflamed red skin typically consist of Psoriasis and may impact skin on any part of the body. If the scales are disrupted, skin can easily bleed.

The form, colour, and sizes are the main features of psoriasis. A thin, oval patch tends to be triangular until the outline of this patch continues to grow irregular, reaching a diameter of around 5 cm. The field is normally inflamed with a standardised hue, which ranges from deep red, purple or brown.

There are dry, thin proportions but the scaling can differ. The small structures on the surface of the skin stick together and are not removed easily. The scales can be so think that skin redness can be noticeable often only when the scales are taken away. Removing scales will easily cause the skin to leak and the coating behind the ears or even the face can cause spots.

There is a sort of guttate psoriasis that has flat papules in the pinhead area that appear as drops of water. Streptococcal diseases are a major factor in this form of precipitation.

Seborrheic Dermatitis

The erythema areas covered by inflamed yellow sticky scales are typically seborrheic dermatitis. It often positions itself around the front hairline, face, neck, scalp, back and other parts of the body.

The effect of sex hormones and thyroxine on sebum development can also play a role in hormonal factors. While sebum development becomes active at birth shortly after puberty, as the rise in the production of androgen increases the size of sebum glands, thus growing sebum performance.

Among females, sebum is affected by the simultaneous development of the androgens from the adrenal cortex and ovaries. It is the extreme oiliness of certain oral contraceptives may signify a hormone imbalance or an effect on their skin.
