Art therapy is a holistic and creative counselling approach for children and adults to improve mental and emotional well-being.
Counselling and Art Therapy
Mindsight Counselling and Art Therapy help build trust and improve personal autonomy and inspiration through imagination and spontaneity. There is no requirement for patients to have extensive expertise because the primary focus is not on the outcome, but on the innovative process.
In a stable, confidential, and healthy setting, the client and therapist collaborate together within clearly defined guidelines and objectives.
This is a customer-centric, collaborative and result-oriented art therapy suitable for all ages.
The majority of children are sent to art/play therapy when they have significant emotional difficulties.
One of the following can be shown to a kid who profits from art/play therapy:
- Has suffered from trauma
- Parents are divorced/separated
- Is suffering from anxiety, stress
- Is withdrawn or unhappy
- Is autistic, disabled, or chronically ill
- Is experiencing bullying
- Has difficulty making friends
- Displays inappropriate behaviours
- Doesn’t talk & play
Art Therapy with Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
Particularly appropriate for art therapy interventions are the unique learning styles of children with ASD. Art therapy includes a broad variety of activities to improve motor coordination and modeling techniques like carving, gluing, painting and colour. In addition, any sensory stimulation can relax the adult with an ASD in its tactile and repetitive behaviour.
