I am outgoing and am at my happiest when interacting with people in a positive way. It has been my lifelong ambition to be of service to others in an independent, pro-active, caring yet nurturing manner and I have found that Massage Therapy is the perfect way to do this.
My experience includes working with professional swimmers and other sports persons such as diver’s, cricketer’s, cyclist’s and triathlon participants.
Other experience includes corporate massage as well as palliative and primary care. Some very rewarding work included assisting patients with multiple sclerosis, fibromyalgia, oedema and learning difficulties that were related to problems with body strength, fine and gross motor skills.
My massage treatments are client focused and I use a variety of techniques that best suit the clients’ requirements. These techniques include Relaxation, Swedish, Trigger Point Therapy, Sports Massage Techniques, Soft Tissue Manipulation incorporating Neuromuscular and Muscle Energy Techniques, Indian Head Massage, Manual Lymphatic Drainage, Deep Tissue Massage, Cross Fibre Mobilisation Techniques, as well as, Acupoint Pressure.
Geared towards a full and speedy recovery.
Types of Massage:
Remedial massage addresses musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction caused by many of life’s stresses, be it physical, emotional, environmental or occupational. Its aim is to find the cause of the dysfunction and treat that, along with the presenting symptoms bringing about a lasting restorative result.
Sports massage is hugely beneficial. It prepares the athlete for competition, relieves sore, stiff, aching muscles, speeds up recovery time, prevents, as well as, treats injuries. Specific muscle groups may be targeted in pre-event, post-event and maintenance massage given for enhanced and optimum performance.
Relaxation massage aims to totally relax the whole body and person treating both physical and mental tension simultaneously. It allows you to experience the healing power of touch by just ‘letting go’ and enjoying a gentle, or firmer soothing, healing and healthful massage.
Pregnancy is a time of many physical and emotional changes. Massage during and after this special time helps the body and mind cope better with all the changes taking place. It is especially useful in relieving the physical aches and pains that appear as the body changes. Massage during pregnancy means health and well-being for both you and your baby.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD)
The purpose and function of our lymphatic system is to localise infection, produce immunity and to detox the body. MLD is unlike any other massage. It is a specialised technique that is applied very slowly and lightly, in a rhythmic fashion, following specific guidelines and sequencing. Very helpful for fluid retention and, post-surgically, can help prevent scarring and remove unwanted fluid. MLD supports the lymphatic system, balances the nervous system, removes toxins from the body and relieves congestion by absorbing excess fluid.
Indian Head Massage (IHM)
So different! An awesome experience – nurtures, centres and relaxes body, mind and spirit. Promotes peace of mind, clear thinking, concentration, creativity and sound sleep. Highly recommended for headaches, migraines, TMJ syndrome, insomnia, tinnitus and vertigo. Helpful for nervous tension and depression.
