The physical asana (posture) practice which yoga is often associated with, is merely one of the tools available to purify the body to enable the pursuit of a higher state of being. When one practices good intention and cultivates these into positive thoughts and actions, one is already on the path of yoga.
The asana practice can be seen as a way to help smoothen the journey by improving one's general well being, focus and discipline. By remaining mindful in our practice, we become aware of the interconnectedness within ourselves, and with the universe. When we observe our reactions and responses on the mat, we become acquainted with who we are, how we think and react to situations and challenges - it is a non-biased reflection of how we live.
When we reconnect with the inner teacher within ourselves, and realise our inner brilliance, we become more at peace and compassionate with ourselves and the world we live in.
My teaching approach has a strong emphasis on technique and alignment to ensure a safe physical practice. However, in line with yoga philosophy, I encourage the practice of self awareness, ahimsa
(non-violence) and self love. This in turn, helps us become more accepting and loving, bringing peace within and around us. Regular practice and perseverance are the keys.
"Anyone who practices can obtain success in yoga but not one who is lazy. Constant practice alone is the secret of success." - The Hatha Yoga Pradipika.
I hope to share with you the immense joy, beauty and benefits I have gained through my own practice. It is a journey which will be enricked by sharing this incredible experience.
Yoga, a way to help us heal, grow and improve.
