Glaucoma is a disease of the eye marked by increased pressure within the eyeball. If it is left untreated, it can damage the optic nerve and eventually cause blindness. There are mostly no symptoms unless loss of vision occurs, usually beginning with peripheral vision. If you are suffering an acute attack of glaucoma, you may have red eyes, extreme pain, blurred vision, headaches, nausea, and vomiting. Treatment for glaucoma includes eye drops, medication, laser therapy, surgery, herbal therapy, nutritional therapy and Ayurveda. It is important to have regular eye exams as a preventative measure.
