Hypnotherapy is one of the oldest forms of healing techniques and can use the mind-body connection to improve health, aid healing, assist with our general well-being and enhance performance. 

Hypnotherapy has been used in ancient cultures for healing since the start of written history back in the Egyptian times around 3000BC.  The Egyptians used the Sleep Temples to help bring about health.  Many tribes used chanting, breathing and meditation to achieve a hypnotic state.  In the mid-1800s it was used for pain relief and more research into the validity of hypnosis was undertaken.  However, Dr Milton Erickson, an American psychiatrist and psychologist established hypnotherapy as a valid adjunct to conventional therapy.

Our minds are made of two components – the conscious and the subconscious. Our conscious mind gives us the ability for reason, logic and critical thinking and censors any information that we place in our subconscious. Our subconscious accepts all information without any analysis.  It’s the part of our mind that houses our dreams, long-term memory and rhythmic control of our body and organs.

In hypnotherapy, we use an altered state of consciousness, deep relaxation, a meditative state, to bypass the conscious mind and accessing the subconscious.  In this state it is possible to contact the inner self and to make beneficial therapeutic corrections to the subconscious mind.  The client maintains control at all times during hypnotherapy.

Hypnotherapy can allow us to regain control of our thoughts and actions and make the right choices in life by changing our beliefs, perceptions and sensations directly in the subconscious mind. Our negative belief patterns can be changed to a positive reaction resulting in powerful positive changes and outcomes in our lives.  Hypnotherapy can be used to stop the old messages that may not be working for us and replace them with new messages to work towards success and happiness.
