Shirley Rd Chiropractic - Chiropractic
The initial 6 weeks of chiropractic care at Shirley Rd Chiropractic is referred to as ‘Basic Care’. Within this time your body will begin to heal injured tissues (muscle, ligaments, bone etc.). During this phase your chiropractor will identify any dysfunction within your spine and any injured tissue that may be causing you discomfort.
What to expect from an adjustment
Spinal adjustments are used with the specific aim to correct joint dysfunctions in the spine. Joint dysfunctions are identified areas of improper motion or function in the spine. There are a variety of ways and different techniques to adjust joint dysfunctions that have developed in the spine. Any potential risks that may occur as a result of adjustments will be outlined to you on the first visit by way of a consent form and an opportunity to discuss these very small risks.
How does Chiropractic work?
The primary objective of a chiropractic adjustment session are to correct musculoskeletal dysfunction, reduce pain and increase the range of movement in the joints. The adjustment (manipulation) aims to return the body back to an optimal range of motion and overcome any blockages. This will help:
- Restore motion – both symmetry and range of motion
- Normalise biomechanics and load distribution
- Relax tight muscles
- Normalise proprioception – joint position sense
- Stimulate sensory-motor reflexes which improves dynamic muscular stabilization of joints
