• Recognise and respond to crisis situations (CHCCCS019)
• Establish and confirm the counselling relationship (CHCCSL001)
• Apply specialist interpersonal and counselling interview skills (CHCCSL002)
• Facilitate the counselling relationship and process (CHCCSL003)
• Research and apply personality and development theories (CHCCSL004)
• Apply learning theories in counselling (CHCCSL005)
• Select and use counselling therapies (CHCCSL006)
• Support counselling clients in decision-making processes (CHCCSL007) 
• Develop, facilitate and review all aspects of case management (CHCCSM005)
• Work with diverse people (CHCDIV001)
• Promote Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander cultural safety (CHCDIV002)
• Work legally and ethically (CHCLEG001)
• Reflect on and improve own professional practice (CHCPRP003)

There are two streams you can choose between, which helps determine your set of 4 additional electives.

You get to choose either Stream A four electives OR Stream B four electives; on top of the core units; as part of your Diploma in Counselling (CHC51015)

STREAM A

• Provide brief interventions (CHCCCS014)
• Provide loss and grief support (CHCCCS017)
• Plan and conduct group activities (CHCGRP003)
• Deliver structured programs (CHCGRP004)

STREAM B

• Work within a clinical hypnosis framework* (DCHHYP501)
• Prepare for clinical hypnosis session* (DCHHYP502)
• Perform a clinical session* (DCHHYP503)
• Monitor and evaluate clinical hypnosis interventions* (DCHHYP504)
