Life Coaching focuses on the particular life skill you would like to enhance. It could be skills in areas such as confidence, self esteem, public speaking, chairing meetings, becoming assertive, speaking up in work situations in which you feel intimidated, finding a life direction, losing weight, finding a partner, gaining appreciation of who and how you are with friends, in your relationship with your partner and in your workplace.
Focusing on the relationship
Similar to counselling, the relationship you have with your life coach is paramount. I recommend you have at least one session with me to check me out. I work by negotiating a contract with you relating to what it is you want to achieve, how you'd like to go about it and how many sessions to expect.
What should I expect?
My work can be quite directive and I will provide a range of techniques such as role plays, assertiveness training, and how to say no without feeling guilty. Body work will be used to enhance posture, breath and grounding, all of which are key elements of confidence and self assurance.
Life coaches are also able to assist with career changes and managing life transitions. Interview role plays and imaginal fantasy work will be used to help you become embodied in who you wish to be.
NLP, Bodywork, and breath work, mindfulness, meditation, and communication skills training are some of the methods I will use. They will be used in different ways for different people, depending on their situations and together we will decide what suits you best.
