I am a thinking person and I welcome clients who are seeking a practitioner who takes the time to make an accurate diagnosis before treatment.
I am an experienced practitioner having been in practice for 22 years. I formerly ran a busy clinic on the corner of Woodlark & Molesworth Streets, Lismore. I now work at home in a more relaxed fashion in conjunction with my wife, Larisa Barnes, a naturopath.
The techniques I practice are:
Bowen Technique. This is a gentle soft tissue method of realigning the spine developed by the late Tom Bowen. A treatment session proceeds at a slow pace in which I “do a bit, wait a bit.” By balancing out muscle tension the spine works its own way into place within a few days after treatment. This technique is excellent with chronic (long term) conditions. If you are the kind of person who goes to the chiropractor and feels better after treatment but it only lasts a couple of days, this technique is for you. There are lots of practitioners who practice Bowen technique nowadays and many of them very capably. I maintain that I am different to other Bowen practitioners because of my experience as a chiropractor and osteopath which enables me to make specific diagnoses, rather than following a formula.
Chiropractic & Osteopathy. I am dual registered in NSW as chiropractor & osteopath. There are times when a good old fashion adjustment (crack of the back) is the best solution for spinal conditions. It cuts a lot of corners; the effect is much more immediate than Bowen technique. My adjustments are always preceded by specific soft tissue or muscle release. On Mondays and Tuesdays, when my wife, Larisa is attending our practice, we offer a combined one hour massage followed by adjustments.
Acupuncture. I am classically trained in acupuncture. However, because I have chosen to specialize in my practice, I mostly perform acupuncture for muscle and bone problems. Acupuncture can be used in conjunction with adjustments for a combined healing effect. All needles are pre sterilised and properly disposed of after single use.
