Bowen Therapy is a cross fibre muscle release technique that balances and stimulates energy flows by addressing connective tissue mainly referred to as fascia. The treatments result in a deep sense of overall relaxation, pain relief and improved range of movement usually from the first treatment.
There are various schools of protocols originating from the teachings of Mr Tom Bowen, the founder of the Bowen Technique.

At the BetterHealth Naturopathic Clinic you will benefit from the training acquired through 4 different schools of Bowen by our therapists. These schools include Emmet therapy, Neurostructural Integration Technique and Fascial Kinetics and are brought together to suit your specific needs at the time of treatment.

These techniques are not considered a massage but rather a non invasive muscle release technique.

Bowen and pressure techniques such as these strive to find the origin of a problem and are therefore very effective for muscular-skeletal problems, including ankle, knee, lower back and neck pain a well as improvement of posture.

• Many muscle or joint pains of unknown origin

A treatment usually requires the client to lie on a bed or treatment couch and can be performed through light clothing. Sessions can last from 30 minutes to an hour. It is usually recommended to have two to three sessions of the Bowen Technique with a break of five to seven days between each session.
