Ferguson Street Osteopathy
Pregnancy brings with it joy and excitement, but often accompanying these good feelings is discomfort, particularly in the back, hips and ribs, as the body adjusts to accommodate the growing baby. These sorts of problems can make day-to-day life difficult, in what should otherwise be a happy time.
Osteopathy offers a safe and gentle form of treatment that can be effective in alleviating many of the pains and discomforts felt during the stages of pregnancy. In releasing tight muscles, freeing up stuck joints, unwinding fascial strains and calming the nervous system, osteopathy helps to integrate the orientation changes that occur to the pregnant body, allowing the body to move freely and without pain.
Here are some common pregnancy related complaints that osteopaths see:
Low back and hip pain
Pelvic girdle pain
Pelvic floor issues
Neck, shoulder and upper back pain
If you are suffering from any of the above problems, it is surely making your pregnancy difficult to deal with, and harder to enjoy the way you should, but it doesn’t have to be like this! Come in to visit Julie at Ferguson Street Osteopathy to see if your aches and pains can be helped with osteopathic treatment.
Ferguson Street Osteopathy also offers post natal consults for women who have any requirements post birth including ongoing low back pain, pelvic floor problems, or shoulder/upper back pain due to constant child holding and breast feeding. Our osteopath Julie also has experiences treating newborns. For more on treatment of babies and children, see our page for Children’s Health.
