Swedish Relaxation Massage - are you feeling stressed, been through an emotional time or feeling fatigued?
Relaxation massage is designed to soothe the nervous system, lower blood pressure, improve circulation, flush metabolic waste, stimulate the skin and induce the Relaxation Response. A highlight of relaxation massage is that attention is given to areas such as feet, head, hands, and face.
An excellent massage when feeling stressed, tired or anxious. Results are best when you keep talking to a minimum and allow yourself to completely relax and let go. Relaxation massage will improve oxytocin levels and this hormone makes you feel happy and trusting towards others.
Deep Tissue - Worked long hours at the computer, been exercising more than usual?
Deep Tissue Massage builds on the Swedish Relaxation base so muscles are warmed and there is flow to the massage but incorporates deeper pressure in areas of tension. This pressure may be cross fibre mobilisation, trigger point, deeper compression, stretches and produces a feeling of "Good Pain". We always use a pain scale to ensure we work within your pain threshold and clients must provide feedback in this process. We may also use heat or natural anti-inflammatory creams in the treatment.
An excellent massage when you are sore from exercise, been sitting for a long time at your computer and feel generally stiff, old injury flare ups. or have been doing an activity that you don't normally.
Remedial - feel like you have overdone it at the gym? Had an ongoing issue that needs work or in acute pain?
Remedial Massage involves postural assessment to identify muscles imbalances. Imbalances can be caused by hypertonic (tight) or hypotonic (weak) muscles, fascia tension, or bone mis-alignement.
An assessment may involve checking leg length, spine and hip alignement, range of motion and asking about the client's general activity. Remedial massage has more of a focus on helping specific problems such as frozen shoulder, tendonitis, decreased flexibility, and injuries.Techniques used include Myofascial Release (MFR), Trigger Point, Acupressure, Cross Fibre Mobilisation and Positional Releases, PNF Stretches, Met's. Hot Stone Massage - feel like you really need an overhaul and some decent time out?
If you are feeling tired or stressed this winter why not relax with a soothing hot stone massage. Hot stones and warm coconut oil combine to melt away tension and stress.
Hot stone or hot rock massage is a speciality massage where the therapist uses smooth, heated basalt stones as an extension of their hands as well as placing the hot stones on the body. The heat can be deeply relaxing and help to warm and release tight muscles allowing the therapist to work the muscles without applying deep pressure. The warmth of the stones improves circulation and lymphatic drainage and calms the nervous system. Read more about Remedial Treatments here
