According to Chinese Medicine there are three substances that circulate in the body: Blood, Body Fluids and Qi. The last of these is often translated as energy. Acupuncture works by stimulating the flow of all these substances but especially that of Qi.

Chinese Medicine believes that Qi travels through meridians or lines of energy across the limbs and connects with the inner organs. By stimulating points on the meridians blockages can be cleared as well as stimulating the internal organs.

Does it hurt? Most people are surprised how little they feel when needles are inserted. Acupuncture needles are extremely fine. A guide tube is used to allow for very rapid insertion, quickly passing the nerves that lie on the surface of the skin.

Only sterile disposable needles are used in the clinic.

Moxibustion is the burning or a Chinese herb above an acupuncture point. This gentle warmth helps the body to strengthen. It has been shown have a wide range of uses from helping with the pain of arthritis to assisting in the turning of breech babies during pregnancy.
