What is reiki?

Reiki is a type of energy healing that originated in Japan that aims to improve overall health and enhance the quality of life. It follows a traditional patterns of various hand positions, resting without putting pressure on or above the body.

What is Reiki, How Does It Work & What Is It Used For?

Reiki which means "universal life energy" in Japanese was founded by Mikao Usui in the early 20th century and continues to evolve as a result of dedication, research, and experience. His methods and traditions were passed through several Reiki grandmasters. Reiki helps the body emotionally and spiritually and it is open to any belief system.

How does reiki work?

Reiki works by channeling the positive energy into the person’s body, with the help of Reiki masters and practitioners. Typically, they place their hands on the affected areas of the body that needed boosting, offering the energy while the body takes it to the areas most needed. 

The free flow of positive energy may bring a near immediate sensation of relief to a person as it helps in releasing tension, lessening the impact of stress, and replacing negative energy with the positive one. Some people refer to this positive energy as the life force as it can indeed bring a new life a stressed out, tired body.

What is reiki healing used for?

Reiki is a technique designed for stress reduction and promotes relaxation. In addition, several people use Reiki for healing. It should be noted that Reiki is not to be used as a cure for any disease or illness, but it may help the body create an environment that facilitates healing. Reiki is an excellent tool to be used as a complement to other traditional medicine. 

Reiki helps in improving the results of medical treatment, which acts to reduce the negative side effects, shortens healing time, reduces or eliminates pain, reduces stress, and helps create optimism.

During a session of Reiki treatment, the patient will usually lies on a padded table fully clothed. A session typically lasts from 60 to 90 minutes. Due to its gentle nature, several people are known to have fallen asleep during this healing session.
