Jennifer Lamb Massage - Sports Massage
Why Try A Sports Massage?
Athletes place a considerable amount of strain on their bodies. Sports Massage prior to a sporting activity or exercise may enhance performance and endurance, and minimise risk of injury; in contrast, Sports Massage following sports activity or exercise aims to reduce muscle tension, assist in recovery, restore flexibility and aid in the increase of blood flow and lymph to muscles that have been placed under exertion.
Regular Sports Massage between competitions helps to decrease recovery time between training sessions, thereby increasing your overall training efficiency.
How Does It Work?
Sports Massage utilises Deep Tissue Massage frictions into the muscle tissue to loosen tight bands within the muscle; Myofascial Release and Muscle Energy Techniques to lengthen contracted muscle tissue & improve joint mobility; Trigger Point Therapy to reduce trigger points, or painful "knots" within the muscle tissue; Effleurage to reduce swelling and inflammation that may be present within muscle tissue after strenuous exercise; vibration and percussive (brisk tapping and hacking) techniques to loosen muscle tissue without losing muscle activation; and therapist-assisted stretching to increase muscle flexibility.

A Typical Consultation
The safe and effective application of Remedial Massage Therapy is a collaborative effort between the therapist and client. In order to understand more about your condition and needs, I must discuss with you your injury and medical history, as well as assess your musculo-skeletal system to get a "snap shot" of your body's posture and potential movenemt restrictions.
Therefore, each Remedial Massage Consultation will consist of:
A brief, yet thorough (& confidential) discussion of your injury & medical history
Postural & mobility assessment
Remedial Massage Therapy
Brief, post-massage assessment & discussion of further Remedial Massage Therapy or referral to another Health Care Provider, if required.
Demonstration of any relevant exercises ("homework")
