My vocation in counselling and psychotherapy was initiated when I reached a point in my life that allowed me to understand the true meaning of ‘life experience’. I am a wife, a mother and grandmother, and have faced challenges due to my nationality and migrant status. I have lived through monumental paradigm shifts in politics, economics and technology, and am witness to the growing cultural pressures of modern society on all age groups. I have been both an employer and an employee, and have faced health challenges –as well as supporting others, through their own. This culmination of experiences has taught me perspective, tolerance, empathy, and an approach that is free of judgment. I believe that none of us should have to be alone in a time of struggle.
My counselling approach
I approach each person as an individual with unique needs, and tailor my counselling methodology accordingly. I utilise integrative, multi-dimensional counselling and psychotherapy approaches – combining knowledge and skills from different therapy modalities into a healing and unified practice, based in humanistic existential philosophy.
I believe we all have the power and ability to solve our problems, residing within us, and SO DO YOU.
While we all encounter life’s challenges and are generally able to resolve them on our own, or with the help of people we know – At times we may find ourselves in crisis, or in situations which seem too difficult to overcome.
For different people, these situations may take different forms. For some, the past is a cause of pain, and for others, it’s the future that causes anxiety. Stress may also stem from family, work, or relationship difficulties, or grief resulting from loss – causing us to feel depressed, misunderstood, or simply powerless to change our circumstances. We may also experience profound loneliness, even when surrounded by people.
When we are lost in our difficulties or when they seem too hard to bear and we’re unable to pay attention to the things that are most important to us – It might be a good time to speak to someone. Quite often – just by finding out what is affecting us, who we really are and what we really want – we may reach a turning point in our lives.
