Kinesiology, Remedial Massage,
Practitioner: Mary Cunningham
The science, art and philosophy of healing which supports and enhances the body’s own healing process.
Nutrition, herbs, remedial massage are some of the main therapeutic modalities used. Emphasis is also placed on lifestyle physical activity, fresh air, sunlight and water.
Kinesiology is non invasive and uses gentle muscle checking as a means of communicating with the brain (subconscious) to identify and correct imbalances, and blockages in the body's physical, mental, chemical and emotional energy systems for positive lasting results.
Kinesiology diffuses stress and pain at a deep level to restore harmony and balance so that you can reach your full potential and achieve your personal goals. The kinesiologist employs a holistic approach to health care, thereby recognizing the fine balance between the physical and emotional processes of the body,
Mary is available Monday & Tuesday afternoons, Wednesday & Thursday mornings. .
Chinese Medicine
Practitioner: Kathryn Thompson
If you have ever been curious about how Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) works and how you are treated in a consultation please read on and all will be explained.
At the initial TCM consultation a picture is built up of your symptoms and your history, and the approach that needs to be taken to resolve the problem with certain treatment such as acupuncture, laser acupuncture, Chinese dried herbs, Chinese medicine tablets, etc.
To assess the symptoms your tongue is examined (no need to clean it before you arrive for your appointment) and your pulse is felt, specific questions are asked about history, lifestyle, diet and symptoms, etc., a diagnosis is made and your treatment plan formulated.
With acute conditions, TCM may only take a small number of treatments to get your body working the way it should be, along with long term dietary advice and lifestyle changes to maintain it that way.
When a long term condition is treated with TCM it is important to know that patience is the key, this means treatment may need to be weekly for an extended period.
Good food, a balanced lifestyle, and plenty of fun and laughter are wonderful tonics.
Is your lifestyle contributing to your unwellness?
Optimal health means Optimal living!

Expanding Barnsdale Natural Health Centre's range of natural health practitioners, we now have available qualified Psychologists working with us.
Most people who come to see a psychologist basically want to be happier and enjoy their lives and relationships more. The issue that has prompted them to come at this particular time can range from a relationship crisis, loss, stress, pain or illness, problems at work; through to more longstanding issues like low self-esteem, anxiety or depression; or simply a desire to make good relationships better, or enhance work effectiveness.
There are many different ways to approach this, and it’s important to find out which approaches the client (and the therapist) is comfortable with. Often it will involve exploring what the client believes about themselves and about life, how they manage and express their feelings, and the ways they react and act in different situations. Each of us is likely to have particular strengths in this, as well as blind spots and areas that are not working so well for us.
The psychologists at Bairnsdale Natural Health Centre provide a safe, confidential and non-judgmental environment in which people can explore issues, learn about themselves, develop ideas about the changes they might want to make in their lives, set goals, and practise strategies to achieve them.
You do not need a referral to see a psychologist. However, in some circumstances your GP may think it appropriate to refer you for counselling through Medicare, in which case you become eligible for a rebate on the fee.
For appointments and availability please contact reception.
