Health & Wellness
Last Updated Feb 23, 2022

Instead of visiting a massage therapist you can have the therapist come to you. And with a hectic modern lifestyle, mobile massage answers the question: how to find time for massage?

Mobile massage is massage that's done away from the practitioner's office, and there are two main types.

  • Home or office visits for a regular massage
  • Workplace or Chair massage

What is a Home Visit?

The therapist packs up a table, towels and any other items needed, and brings them to your premises to give you a treatment. Most modalities will offer a mobile massage service; all of the following and more are available:

Why would you want a Home Visit?

You might need mobile massage if you are time-poor, only available at odd hours, or when it's not convenient to visit the therapist. Some other reasons might be:

  • People who can't leave home, due to illness or disability
  • Busy executives when they're too busy to leave their work premises.
  • People who are on-call, and can't be off the premises, can have a treatment on the spot
  • Visitors or business people staying in a hotel or other accommodation with time restraints or who don't know the area, can have a recommended therapist come to them
  • When massage is required out of normal office hours

Corporate or Chair Massage

The therapist brings a specially designed chair to the clients.  Chair massage doesn't need clothes to be removed, and no oil is used. It's usually only upper body.

Special techniques are used to get maximum effect in a short time.  The massage only lasts for 15-20 minutes, and can even be as short as 5 minutes. Corporate Massage is widely used to enhance Occupational Health and Safety standards.  It can incorporate exercise and stretch programs, and monitor posture and ergonomics.

Why Would You Want Corporate Massage?

There are many instances when corporate or chair massage is useful and welcome apart from at a workplace. It's used to reward or just treat staff at an office function.  A therapist can attend events from food festivals to birthday parties to football.  Other events might be:

  • Conferences
  • Training days
  • Office workers
  • Sporting events
  • Special occasions
  • Thank you to staff

What Does Mobile Massage Cost?

Cost varies widely depending on the type of service and how far the therapist needs to travel. It may be per person, or at an hourly rate. It's best to discuss it with the individual therapist.

How to Choose A Mobile Massage Practitioner

You'll want a therapist who is experienced in this type of work so that you get the best possible outcome.  Find a suitably qualified mobile massage therapist in your area.
