Studying Feng Shui

Studying Feng Shui

Have you ever walked into a room and felt immediately comfortable? Are you curious about the impact our environment can have on our health and wellbeing? The ancient Chinese art of Feng Shui is a fascinating journey into channeling and balancing energies within our living environment to bring about harmony. Becoming a Feng Shui consultant is a truly rewarding career in which you can bring about many positive benefits for your clients, in both residential and commercial settings.

What is Feng Shui?

Feng Shui (pronounced "Fung Schway"), is an ancient Chinese art of manipulating and arranging the surrounding environment in order to attract positive life energy, or "Chi". It is understood that people are affected by their environments, either positively or negatively. Feng Shui aims to unblock obstructions or obstacles, so that the Chi may flow smoothly.

Working as a Feng Shui Practitioner

As a Feng Shui practitioner, you will work with clients to arrange items in their living environment to ensure health, wellbeing and prosperity. You may be asked to apply Feng Shui to new homes, renovations and building projects. You may also be consulted to help your clients choose new homes and offices to move into.

Feng Shui Study Options

There are dozens of courses available in Australia to become qualified in Feng Shui, particularly since the modality has many disciplines one can practice. To gain accreditation with the Association of Feng Shui Consultants, you will need to satisfy their minimum requirements. However, before launching into a full Feng Shui course of study, you might like to undertake a distance education certificate, or a short course. This will help you decide if Feng Shui is right for you.

The course you choose should cover a variety of subjects, including the principles of Feng Shui, Chinese astrology and personal orientation; as well as how to apply Feng Shui principles in a range of environments.

Questions to Consider

Before enrolling on a course to study Feng Shui, it is wise to run through some practical issues and considerations; to ensure that you have all the necessary information and are sure of your intended vocation.  These include:

  • Do you know what it entails to be a practising Feng Shui practitioner?
  • What is the full cost of the course being offered?
  • Is the study full or part-time, or available via distance learning?
  • Is the institution reputable?
  • What career opportunities are available to me after graduating?
  • What level of income can I expect?
