Positive Thinking For Health

Peter Dingle, a motivational speaker who trades as Dr. Dingle, is all positive energy as he chats with NTPagesTV's roving reporter, Kat Tate. His ethos is based on examining the diet, attitude and lifestyle of people and working on these elements to ensure you remain disease-free.

You can read the written transcription of the interview below.

Natural Therapy Pages: I'm Kat from NTPagesTV, and I'm here with Peter from Dingle Presentations. How are you, Peter?

Peter Dingle: I'm very well. Thank you. But, I have to be well.

NTP: You do.

PD: Cause I'm a motivational health speaker, so I suppose I gotta practise what I preach.

NTP: Definitely. Tell me about that, what you do.

PD: There's a couple of arms to it, but at the end of the day, all I'm trying to do is get out there with a message, an honest message based on science thrown in with a little bit of fun and humour and so on, to educate people. And I do that through my talks. I do a couple hundred talks a year around the country, whether it's family or professionals or so on, as well as my books.

I've got eight books, my own books which are based on science and fun. In fact, I've got a great PGF. I'll show you this one. See, the beauty of this book here, it's got the writing on the left for the women and the pictures on the men…pictures on the right for the men to understand. And that's a whole idea. It's about making the stuff accessible to everyone. This one's a family book. I've got the books with all the references.

You know, I've got a book on cholesterol deception. And essentially, it's the common sense approach. Cholesterol is not the problem; it's a good chemical. The drugs you take are dangerous, and there is no evidence in the world to show lowering cholesterol extends your life. None. But, we're so inundated with false information from vested interests, and all I'm trying to do along with these other messages is just to get it out and introduce some common sense. That's the sixth sense. We've got five senses. That's the sixth one and we've forgotten it: common sense.

NTP: So, how do people do that? What do they need to think about? What do they have to look at?

PD: Well, in terms of what I do, I try to approach a very easy, simple approach. What I call the Dingle Deal. Now, the Dingle, it obviously rings a bell. It's my name. You can't forget it. But the Deal is critical, and it stands for Diet-D, E-Environment, A-Attitude, L-Lifestyle. From a health perspective, you need to look at it from a total, nice, rounded soft perspective.

You can't treat an illness by giving them a drug. You can't treat an illness just by giving nutrition. In a lot of cases, there's a whole raft of emotional or mental issues behind that. And, similarly, if you're exposed to toxins - you know I've known people who looked after everything, got exposed to toxins and developed Parkinson's disease. So, you need to look at the diet side, the environment, attitude and lifestyle. A broad perspective, but at the end of the day, our body has an immense ability to heal. And if we can educate the brain that we can do it on our own, and then we take the right steps to do it, we end up being happy, healthy and well.

NTP: Who doesn't want that as well?

PD: You know, I'm surprised. Disease is really hard to create. Chronic illness. You know, it takes 20 years of hard work to become a diabetic. Cancer takes 20 or 30 years to develop. Heart attack and stroke, 40 or 50 years before we actually have it. It's really hard to do and yet there's a lot of people out there working hard to get very sick. And all they need to do is work a little bit to get well, but they have to start, and they have to start now. That's my philosophy.

NTP: Oh, that's a great philosophy. Where could we find out more information?

PD: Best place is www.drdingle.com. I've got my newsletter, monthly newsletter, no ads, none of that stuff. It's all just some information, and it's got a whole raft of blogs and things - everything from cholesterol to psoriasis, you name it. I've put blogs up on all this stuff based on what I find in the scientific journals.

NTP: I have to take a look.

PD: Excellent and enjoy my journal.

NTP: I will, I will. Thanks, Peter.

PD: Pleasure.
