What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is a form of psychotherapy that involves relaxation and hypnosis techniques for the facilitation of healing at the subconscious level. During a therapy session, the hypnotherapist brings their client into a hypnotic state to increase their focus and allow their subconscious mind to receive positive suggestions that aim to change their self-limiting, not to mention harmful, thoughts and behaviour.

Hypnotherapy is about the subconscious level of the mind and utilising the voice and imagery and being guided to make changes at that level.

FAQs About Hypnotherapists & Life Coaches

Is hypnotherapy the same as hypnosis?

Hypnotherapy and hypnosis are related terms, but they are not the same. The first refers to the modality used to facilitate hypnosis. The latter is the process of getting into the trance state, which makes your conscious mind less responsive to stimuli from your surroundings while activating your subconscious mind.

Does hypnotherapy really work?

Yes, hypnotherapy has been proven effective in alleviating stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, as well as a variety of physical conditions like chronic pain, allergies, smoking cessation and weight loss, among many others.

How quickly does hypnosis work?

People who have experienced hypnosis reported seeing positive results in 10 minutes or less. As for those who sought out a hypnotherapist for weight loss or smoking cessation, it took them about two hours to feel the effects of hypnosis.
